My old G4 is sitting next to the laptop and it's still running ) 9.2.2.
Still works, though I don't use it much now that I have a
printer/scanner my laptop can communicate with. (The old ones were even
older than the G4 and unupdatable but still working until the printer
died suddenly a few months ago)

"While its nice that something like Sheephaver exists, the
truth is that its no replacement for Classic. I have apps
that worked beautifully in Classic that do not run in
SheepShaver, or do not run properly. And I have apps that
never ran in Classic that work great in SheepShaver (some
old games would be an example)."

Hear! Hear!

The option to [easily] use Classic is one of the reasons I'm
still using this 2004 PowerMac g4/MDD running 10.3.9.

There are a few apps I use under Classic are simple,
elegant, and fast - and for which I've found no equivalent
replacement "on the Intel side of things".

I find it odd that with all the "Windows-on-the-Mac"
solutions out there, there has been no relatively
easy-to-setup-and-use solution for Classic apps on the Intel
Macs (yes, there is Sheepshaver, but it ain't "easy"). There
_is_ a market for such an emulator/app. Indeed, I wouldn't
be surprised if Apple had had one in development but had
withheld it, because Mr. Jobs says we shouldn't be using
Classic anymore.

I can already see the replies that "Classic is dead", that
Intel apps are better, etc. etc.

So what? Some of us have Classic apps we used for years that
would still serve us well - IF there was an easy pathway to
that end for the Intel platform. There isn't.

not one that's big enough to spend any time making an emulator.

I've moved on, but I still use Sheepshaver to run Managing Your Money.
I'd love to switch to a native financial application, but none of them
can import MYM's data (I've searched numerous times for conversion
apps). I have 25 years of investments stored in there, so I'm kind of
stuck.
