From: Chris Puckett [MSFT] on 11 May 2010 15:58 The error message is trying to tell you that the two versions are at different version levels. This can include service packs and hotfixes. Typically, the version is something like 6.0.2.6361. I've never seen it expressed like you had: '1178817357.0.26156915.0'. It sounds like the -overwrite deleted the site on the server and then the restore failed leaving you in this state. Compare the updates installed for Sharepoint on both servers to make them the same. You might also make a backup of the site before attempting the restore over it. -- Chris Puckett This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. From: lwoody7110 on 12 May 2010 18:40 Both are fully patched as far as Windows Update is concerned From Companyweb -> site actions -> site settings, both are 12.0.0.6421 Where do you see 6.0.2.6361? I have more info about one of the "funnies" with "announcement" not working correctly. In Site Settings -> Site Libraries and Lists, I have duplicate entries for Announcements; Calendar; Tasks; & Team Discussion. I deleted one duplicate (Calendar) and it removed both entries from Site Libraries and Lists, and is now missing from the Companyweb home page. I'm thinking that an import of Companyweb needs some preparation of the existing Companyweb. It appears that not everything gets "merged" using stsadm -o restore I shall revisit this on Saturday
From: Chris Puckett [MSFT] on 13 May 2010 10:49 I don't really see version 6.0.2.6361 anywhere. It was a bad example for this case. -- Chris Puckett This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. From: lwoody7110 on 16 May 2010 12:19 > > I shall revisit this on Saturday I had some good progress yesterday (although not perfect). I have been unable to find differences between the old server and new server. I have therefore concentrated on the issue with the announcements as I think I have some confidence in finding a fix. This refers to the "funnies" regarding duplicate entries found in Site Settings -> Site Libraries and Lists. I deleted the remaining duplicate entries and I repeated the stsadm -o import command. This then left me with single entries in the Site Libraries and Lists where I had duplicates before. Announcements now correctly open to display contents. The disappointment is that they do not have the original creation date. All have today's date. I think I was mistaken in saying some where missing. My earlier comment comes from the wrong order they are now displayed in. I used the announcements as a kind of personal blog for fixing things. Is there a trick to this?
From: lwoody7110 on 17 May 2010 07:50 I found another problem. I am becoming very unimpressed with Sharepoint. I have a single page with over 100 items, which on the old Sharepoint showed a link at the top and bottom to see the next 100 items. On the new server, the link is missing so I can't view the next 100 items. If I switch to Explorer view, I can see the missing items. Sharepoint doesn't seem to correctly rebuild views after an import. The only way I can see to resolve this problem is to reimport the missing items manually - even though they are already stored on the server. The missing items are found using the search function. This is becoming increasingly annoying.
