Still waiting. If you can't even provide the bare basic information,
people can't help you. Especially if you require GUI directions, rather
than copy/pasting commands provided into a terminal -- the latter will
work on most anything. GUI configuration will vary from distro to distro
and may also vary between versions.

You're assuming that BB has suddenly started telling the truth.

OK, what router/access point are you using? and what are the exact security
settings you are using on the router/access point.

I don't need the key, but what is it's length approximately?

Fixing Broken WiFi on Inspiron 9400 in Ubuntu Karmic
25 November 2009

I just got done with a fresh install of Ubuntu Karmic on my big laptop –
the 17″ Dell Inspiron 9400. Almost everything installed flawlessly – I
continue to be amazed at how much faster and easier it is to install
Ubuntu than other operating systems and even Linux distributions. The one
problem was with wireless.

It turns out that the iwl3945 firmware that ships with Karmic has a bug
that prevents the Intel wifi from connecting if the access point offers
WPA2 encryption with AES as a possibility for security. To fix this bug,
follow these steps:

1. Download the latest iwl3945 firmware from the Intel Linux Wireless
site = http://intellinuxwireless.org/?n=Downloads
2. Make a copy of the /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-3945-2.ucode file that
contains the old firmware.
3. Copy the new iwlwifi-3945-2.ucode to /lib/firmware
4. Reboot.
///////
But you should tell us what dist/version you are using, what
kernel (command is uname -r), also the other stuff I asked for.
[]'s
If it's a firmware problem give us a printout of:

dmesg |grep firm

Mine gives me:
[ 31.176144] rt61pci 0000:00:0c.0: firmware: requesting rt2561s.bin
(it found my firmware - for a ralink adapter)
