Laptops are some of the most difficult platforms to provide kernels
and subtle libraries for, buecause vendors use some damn strange
chipsets and configurations. And RHEL 5, which is the base of the
latest CentOS release, is now 3 years old and less likely to support
weird configurations well.

I suggest you locate your hot tub outside your house, so it won't do
too much damage if it catches fire or explodes. First you decide which
direction your hot tub should face for maximum solar energy. After
much trial and error, I have found that the best direction for a hot
tub to face is up. - Dave Barry, "The Taming of the Screw"

I second that. CentOS is very very stable. I have 300 servers running 5.4
for the last 6 months and very few crashes.
