I am having a beast of a time time trying to install/config/run
the Helix DNA server on a CentOS 5.4 machine.
In short: nothing works.

Anyone have experience/success with this?

Thanks,

Hmmmmm, I am using CentOS on my laptop. I would recommend installing from
source if you haven't tried that already. It will be more difficult but
once it is done, it is done. I would recommend using Slackware Linux
instead of Centos if you are planning on running a server as Slackware is
known to be less buggy and CentOS is designed as an end user operating
system. Also, my CentOS has already crashed on me twice. I never had that
problem with Slackware!

Okay, I love Slackware, but the above is simply FUD. CentOS is
incredibly stable; I have a half-dozen or so CentOS boxes, and there
have been zero crashes not attributable to user error in over three
years.

There is one shred of truth in the above: installing from source, if
possible, should work fine. But the OP really needs to provide more
(i.e., any) details about what actually failed and what error messages
were observed; perhaps installing a package will work fine, and the OP
just needs some guidance on how to do it.

No issues with the CentOS servers at the NASA contractor sites.

Or simply use the RPM listed at
