From: Sthu Deus on 6 Jun 2010 15:50 Good day. I got a question, Should "volatile" Debian repository be avoided from servers running stable version of Debian for stability/security reasons? I don't think so. I use that repo in my servers for updating ClamAV. Greetings, -- Camaleón -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST(a)lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". No, volatile is meant for packages that *need* frequent updates such as spam filters or virus scanners and packages like these are placed in volatile in order to allow system administrators to upgrade these packages without the need to "upgrade" to testing or unstable. Why do you think that it should be avoided? It is officially supported by Debian and part of the stable infrastructure. Have a nice day Wolodja -- .''`. In my (very humble, not backed up with much personal experience) opinion no. The packages in volatile are usually there because the versions in stable aren't really working anymore, so _if_ you need them there is usually no better source than the volatile repository. See http://www.debian.org/volatile/ for details. Sven -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST(a)lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
