From: Russell D. on 29 Jan 2010 19:06 In KDE 3.5 I was able to use a different picture for each of my desktops. I for the life of me cannot figure out how to do that with KDE 4.3. Is it possible? If so, how? Russell

Click on that little "tear drop"[0] widget in the top-right of the desktop and select "Configure Plasma" and then check the "Different activity for each desktop" checkbox. After clicking on Okay, each desktop will be separately configurable as to the type, background, etc. which means that if you're using "Folder view" to make it feel like a KDE3.5 desktop, you'll need to switch each desktop[1] from the default "Desktop" view. [0] No idea what else to call it. Suggestions on a postcard... [1] Which wasn't exactly my idea of fun after initially setting my desktop to Folder view, finding out how to make them behave independently, and then having to change the other 17 desktops to Folder view because they became the default "Desktop" view. Good grief, I have a hard enough time keeping track of four. Thanks again, Russell

I'd have more but there's a hard limit of 20 desktops, so, I managed to mix a few activities so they share some desktops, and so don't need the extras quite yet. Those two remaining free ones are there just in case I need them.
