Probably because you are accidenatlly putting other fingers on the track pad, or hovering them too closely to the track pad surface. -- Send responses to the relevant news group rather than email to me. Try installing smcFanControl and watch your temperature for a while. If the computer is getting hot enough, it could be choking the CPU and the scrolling would get rough. Steve
