Funny how these huge magnetic fields don't seem to effect cars or bicycles
about on the surface.

Perhaps you ought to remember your basic Newtonian/Maxwellian physics
better than that. As all good physics students would know, magnetism
is in at least one way remarkably similar to gravity, as for example
in the mathematical laws which govern their forces. In the same way
that gravitational force is proportional to the masses, and inversely
proportional to the square of the distance between the masses, so it
goes with opposed magnetic charges. The magnetic force is proportional
to the strength (or 'size' or quantity) of the opposing charges, and
inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the
charges.

In the same way that a weather satellite, say at 10k miles above the
terrestrial surface will not be pulled down out of its orbit, neither
will a bicycle be jerked out from under its rider as she comes within
close proximity to the source of magnetic force from the LHC at Cern.
But now take the weather satellite out of that orbit at its altitude
of 10,000 miles, and put the moon in its stead. As the force is now
proportional to the great increase of mass in the lesser body, the
square of distance is now not great enough to permit the body to
maintain an orbit, and it will come crashing down into collision with
the earth.

In quite the same fashion, the respective potential for a polar
opposite magnetic charge from the iron core of the earth would be far
greater than that of any bicycle passing near the LHC at Cern. While
the bicycle WILL afford an opposing charge to the LHC, and will be
minimally attracted to the LHC, it will not be enough to be noticed by
the rider. Conversely, the immense iron core of the Earth will be
affected, just as we are seeing today in the news from China and
Iceland.

Reality is Cern is over engineered. That is the reason I predicted a
melt down. 10 years ago we accelerated electrons up to 99.0000 of c
It was easy, and the laser used was under a million bucks. This is the
tectnology needed. No need for 150,000 tons of liqiud hyrdogen. Does
not even have to be expensive under ground circular tunnel. ThisCern
accelerater will not create a black hole, but it will create a white
hole and that will be its end. Its like the tokamak To hot to handle.

My old gal pal Sal. (Har!) Keep on smilin', Toots, right on through
the clouds of ash and glass, and the Shake, Rattle and Roll . . .

"Git on to that kitchen,
Wash yo' face an' hands . . ."

Ashby doesn't know what he's jivin' about. He's actually sitting there
with the unmittigated NERVE to contradict Coulomb's Law, for the
crissake.

"The magnitude of the electrostatic force between two point electric
charges is directly proportional to the product of the magnitudes of
each of the charges and inversely proportional to the square of the
distance between the two charges."

EXACTLY THE SAME as with GRAVITY and MASS.

Still smiling, Tootsie-Wootsie? Yeah, never lose that cute little
smile not even when you get around to googling his arcane weirdo
physics thus: ["inverse fourth power law" +magnetism] see what ya get.
Count the puny number of weirdo hits compared to ("inverse square law"
+magnetism) or to just plain [Coulomb's Law].

You can't just come around spouting what you may think to be fancy
sounding phrases like "inverse fourth power law" WITHOUT EXPLAINING
YOURSELF. There is iron-clad logic, and settled physical law behind
my argument and nothing but spittle spray behind his.

But keep on smilin', babe, it looks so smug on ya. :-)
