Many thanks for your help Hupus but still no go. What do you know about 'Key
Ports' as this is where the troubleshooter comes to a stop. Any advice is
greatly appreciated. TY

Hello Steven,

Thank you for contacting MSN Messenger Technical Support. My name is Hector,
and I am pleased to assist you with this issue. I regret any inconvenience
this has caused, and understand how important it is to keep in touch with
your friends and family using MSN Messenger. According to your email, you
need to know if MSN Messenger requires you to ping the default gateway, let
me kindly inform you that, it is only the troubleshooter that does it and
this is just a way of showing that possibly we were not able to connect, we
do not require to ping the gateway to be connected, it is only a way of
helping you determine what may be wrong.

Please we just need to know why do you think this is the case?

Thanks again for contacting MSN Messenger Technical Support, and for your
use of Microsoft products. Have a wonderful day.

I couldnt be bothered to pursue this .... can use google chat or something...

Yes, no probs with that, but still cannot sign in to MSN 7.5. Have
uninstalled and redownloaded to no avail. Am just using windows messenger as
there are no hassles with it. MSN support is a waste of time and emails as
they keep asking the same questions after I have answered them! NOT HAPPY
JAN!!
