Read the content, not just the header.

The subject is read first, and the content than.
a good subject makes a half of a good post.

This subject is at least misleading.

The best depends on how the best is defined.

The best way to create a new message subject is to create it *after* the
message body has been completed, so that the subject can be made to be
the proper title/name/heading to represent the content of the completed
message body.

You/One can usually tell when a bad message subject has been created
improperly, ie first, as in this case.

This subject indicates that Saxman wanted to have a little ranty about
OL and (then, subsequently) ask about a freeware alternative. Office
was on his mind when he created the subject first. I think that if he
had written the subject last, it might have reflected the freeware
request better, eg Freeware for Office? or Open Office?

They are both excellent. That's why I use them. I don't know of any
freeware in the same class.

IMO, for most stuff OO Writer and Calc are fine.

I don't use Powerpoint or Publisher. You could try Scribus to replace the
latter. Last time I looked it had got quite good. Doubt it will replace
Quark real soon though. OO has a presentation application. Depends what you
do with it. Why not give it a go.

OO Base is OK for simple databases. I use it, with a MySQL backend.

I recommend that you choose a better Subject next time...
