I guess I have been lucky...I have never NOT had the option of sounds but I
have only been using it since version 2004.

I'm not trying to talk you into turning the sounds back on, but I did
want to point out that you can keep sounds on and easily turn any
particular sound off. Or if you don't mind having a sound when hitting
enter, but just don't like the particular sound, you can replace it
with a different sound you prefer.

Actually, in 2010 it's not. None of the preferences deal with sounds
of which I have all but the opening chords.

What do you see when you go into Control Panel>>Sounds? Mine show all of the
quicken sounds that are available. I see 7 sounds enabled in windows
including qopen.wav for open program.
