You would not believe the idiotic design of the buttons on the monitor (something so bad, had I known about it, might have swayed me to buy a more straightforward big Dell). Still the LG is a fine thing when working and sitting in front of it directly. Must ferret out the user manual (I have moved office and disturbed my former chaotic but negotiable boxes and drawers of *stuff*). I will probably resort to online search. -- dorayme

Came to use it after a break yesterday and this time one could see the fluro on (not black like when it is off or asleep but sort of grey, the sort that is dimly lit) and this time not "stuck" as with the usual problem I posted about: the on off switch happily turned it on and off. I restarted G4 and it came on in garish orange outlines and barely reeadable. A stroke I think! Basically, I shifted it to another desk and tried it with the Macbook Intel and same thing. Took it back to shop (under one year). Otherwise, under three years, it goes back to LG or LG appointed repairers directly. Three weeks they said it would take. I was perfectly happy - I have enough spare smaller LCDs - until I opened my big fat mouth about what are they wanting for a 1920 by 1200px and minimum 24" for LCDs in their shop... I walked out with a 26" job, an ASUS. Collecting LCD screens is like a disease with me it seems! <g> This one I got because its tax time in two weeks, because it has a speaker or two, because it has HDMI and presumably can be used as a TV if I want and because of my weak nature for trashy monitors under $400 (I tried a quality one once and it let me down after 3 years). Have not fired it up yet. -- dorayme |
