For a hobby machine at home, $140 is way more than what I paid for the
box. I'll just have to forgo support.

I vaguely remember downloading the Solaris 8 recommended cluster patch
several years ago. Can't remember if it had anything other than
security patches.

I think that's what a lot of hobbyists do. The last time I looked
security patches were available to anyone at no charge. For the rest
you either: pay, fix it yourself, or live with the problem until the
next release of the O/S is available.

The price of "Basic Service" has gone way up since I last looked. It's
now $324. I'm glad I'm a hobbyist! If something doesn't work, I can
live without it.
