From: Charlie Russel - MVP on 10 May 2010 15:49 No major disagreement, Bo. Except that the only real reason this software (which is release quality, we're told) exists is because people insisted that we simply would not do forums without it. I actually don't care about NNTP one way or another. But I do care about efficiency and asynchronous use. NNTP is one solution, and one a lot of folks can take advantage of. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/blogs/russel "Bo Persson" <bop(a)gmb.dk> wrote in message news:84qp9mFjplU1(a)mid.individual.net... > Charlie Russel - MVP wrote: >> For those of you lamenting the end of microsoft.public NNTP >> newsgroups, and not particularly looking forward to using web >> forums, check out: >> https://connect.microsoft.com/MicrosoftForums >> >> This is free, it is actually still being developed and worked on, >> and it does work. Well, the NNTP protocol supports authentication, so logically it could take in Passport^H^H^HLiveID details and pass 'em through... -- Steve Foster ------------ Please reply only to the newsgroups. So naturally it does not. Instead you have to authenticate in the NNTP bridge app, then connect unauthenticated from your NNTP client.
