The shutdown is phased in from 6/1 to 10/1. Some are slated to close
tomorrow and others over the next few months.

Well, hopefully they will move to the microsoft web forum, rather
than craping all over the regular Usenet newsgroups. You may
remember a few years back when AOL started offering Usenet access

unleashing the Endless September - and when they finally killed off
their own news servers and mailed all of their users telling them that
groups.google.com was the replacement. Some users (and even some
news servers) filter off posts with a 'googlegroups.com' string in
the Message-ID: header just because of that.

The Endless September was a reference to college students and their new
found access to the internet. AOL managed to compound this disaster a few
years later.
