Older versions have problems in Leopard though I think. -- Gareth Slee

I am running 2.8.2 on Leopard (10.5.8) with no problems whatsoever. I use Eternal September (was Motzarella). I have all newsgroups set to purge articles over 7 days old, so I don't get a big database bulid up. John. -- Please reply to john at yclept dot wanadoo dot co dot uk.

I tend to keep all posts, then maybe a couple of times a year dump everything up to a week or so. I often have 40-50,000 posts in a newsgroup, and there is no discernable slow down. It all seems to work fairly instantly as far as I can see, even when I'm indoors running my MacSoup across the network on my office machine. -- Pd

Looks....about 3 GB in the incoming news folder. (worth less than an euro these days, BU included) No noticable slowdowns, except on startup. (that happens only for system updates) Purging is a waste of time. Jan |
