Worked on a TRS80 in the early 80s and a VAX and PDP-11 in the early/mid
80s, but my fist PC was compatible XT, 8088-2 proc, a full 640KB ram and a
20MB hard drive. Oh, and a 5 1/4" floppy. Early 1986 as I recall and used
DOS 3.0 or DOS 3.3, can't remember now exactly which.

Wow, I didn't realize how long I've been at this, and some here were
veterans when I started. Amazing!

Funny how this always ends up coming back to "Linux wants to own the
desktop". Most of the Linux community will tell you it's not a competition.

If Linux does not work as an alternative for whoever, this does not make it
any less of an alternative for the people who use it every day.

I agree with you here 100%, to argue over the merits of the Linux desktop
being viable for everyone is ridiculous. Hell, Windows is not a viable
desktop for everyone, just ask the Mac guys about this.

Thank you. I couldn't care less if BB or anyone else uses desktop Linux
or not. I just wish he would quit acting like he knows what he's talking
about and quit lying about it.

In fact, if people quit using Windows, I'd lose out -- I make my pocket
money fixing malware infested boxes.
