erm. . . none of that information is helpful. :(

This is the information that's NEEDED for the Firefox and IE versions of
the Google Toolbar:

version (and the URL where you found the info):
release date (and the URL where you found the info):
file name (and the URL where you found the info):
file size (and the URL where you found the info):
download link (and the URL where you found the info):

The download link should allow people to download the Firefox file with
IE and vice versa - some links redirect and offer the wrong file or
won't let people download the file. The file should be complete -> no
additional downloading required to install the program.

I'm not real hopeful after spending several fruitless hours yesterday
searching. . . ISTM the Google Toolbar is more like Webware than
Freeware - especially since it has those automatic updates that can't be
turned off. . .

Make that three. :( ePrompter is the latest candidate.
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2007/PL2007INTERNET.php#0903-PW

ePrompter has an auto-updater. In another thread ([PL] ePrompter help
needed) I asked if there was a way to disable that "feature". To date no
one has posted a way to disable the auto-updater and two people have
said it can't be done.

"Programs are removed from the Pricelessware List if they do not meet
the eligibility requirements."

An app with an auto-updater that can't be disabled is NOT Freeware per
the ACF definition: "Legally obtainable software that you may use at no
cost, monetary or otherwise, for as long as you wish" (
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/WareGlossary.php ) because you
CANNOT use it "for as long as you wish". At best you can use the LATEST
VERSION of the software - which may be quite different from the version
you downloaded.

This issue coulda/shoulda been raised during the Pricelessware selection
process -> the program could have been placed on the PL2007 Ware Ballot.
I'm still hoping for miracles ;) but if a solution to the auto-update
problem is not posted in the near future the app will be removed from
the 2007 Pricelessware List.

This issue will be decided by the group.

Thank you for the feedback Bill. It looks like we now have *3* links for
the English version - with Vegard's being the best/ easier to show on
the web page. :)
