Worm Holes Suppose we or another race can build one. You take a shortcut through space. Does time alter in the process? What if you go through one and then return -do you get back to the same space and time? F ... 22 Feb 2010 13:00
Justification for a new doppler radar formula The formula for radar Doppler shift can be derived without invoking Einsteins' theory of special relativity, because all observations are made in the same frame of reference. The result with c as the speed of light, V as the target velocity and Ft as the transmitted frequency, gives the shifted frequency Fr as: ... 25 Feb 2010 21:37
Finding peak displacement from RMS sinusoidal acceleration without using frequency...? I am looking at sinusoidal motion (shaker tables) and am trying to calculate peak displacement given RMS acceleration. I can do so using: a_peak = 4 * pi^2 * f^2 * x_peak a_rms = 0.707 * a_peak as: x_peak = a_rms / (0.707 * pi^2 * f^2 * 4) But isn't there a way to do this without involving frequency? I thou... 23 Feb 2010 22:45

Podcast: How Did Climate Science Get So Politicized? SAN DIEGOProminent climate researchers gathered here today at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (which publishes ScienceNOW) to discuss a barrage of recent attacks on climate science and on climate researchers themselves. Science reporter Eli Kintisch sat down with p... 21 Feb 2010 14:53
Quantum Gravity 358.91: A Universe with Many Advanced Civilizations would have Many Accelerations (?) From Osher Doctorow From the last (sub-)section, there should be a sudden intermittent sharp increase of repulsions from a cosmological constant or similar "agency", but where do the repulsions come from other than "eternally existing" or existing since the Big Bang? What if the repulsions are a RESPONSE to at... 20 Feb 2010 00:24
WMAP Refines "Precision Cosmology" WMAP Refines "Precision Cosmology" http://www.skyandtelescope.com/community/skyblog/newsblog/84347742.html Space, as far away as we can see, is flat to a new degree of precision. The total density of normal matter, dark matter, and dark energy adds up to 1.0023 0.0055 of the critical flatness density. This... 26 Feb 2010 02:00
