Indeed! Deeply irritating when pointless as done automatically in
iPhoto, Aperture, iMovie and all. Done right, to illustrate the story,
like the real Ken Burns does, is more than acceptable.
I think Apple are a bit naughty piggybacking on Ken Burns like that,
but it is certainly a descriptive name for the effect.
Motion, part of Final Cut Studio gives you the tools to do it better,
but it sure takes some wrasslin' to pin it down.

It was certainly a very popular programme, helped by having a high standard
of storyteller for each set of episodes.

FotoMagico (really) has a FCP, Motion, AE etc. plug-in which is pretty
good and easy:

not that I'm promoting overuse of the Ken Morse Effect.

Heh!
If time were money, I'd be getting it. However, now that I have got a
yellow belt in Motion-fu, there is not much of the video demo that I
can't do there. It would be great for extended slide sequences, but
when intercutting the odd still with video it does not offer much more
than Motion and FCP.

Thanks for the heads up though.

Thank you. I was wondering if anybody would pick up on that. Burns was
fine, but we were doing that stuff with Ken Morse for years- and I'm
damn sure we were very far from being the first.
