The problem isn't how to save it, it's how to be confident about the
state of the file! - given that the application has just cast the matter
into wholly uncalled-for ambiguity.

It certainly doesn't help when you have several related documents (some
translations of each other) on the go at once, on whch you've been
working for several days. The last thing you need then is doubt about
the state of your work.

A workaround might be to Export (not print) to PDF, which doesn't
change the doc, then print that PDF. That could be automated using
folder actions to do the actual print.

In which case turning on change tracking in your working documents
might be helpful.
