Copy and paste it again. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700 I assume you cannot just click the link above as you are not using a newsreader. You will get a far better experience of newsgroups if you use a proper newsreader instead of that slow and quirky web interface you are using. From: PA Bear [MS MVP] on 9 Feb 2010 22:44 What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed IE8? Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? -- ~PA Bear Homer wrote: > I just tried it again. From: Homer on 10 Feb 2010 09:11 I'm running Norton AV, it is current, I don't have a third party firewall, the anti spyware is part of Norton. None of those applications were running. Per your instructions I did have the Windows firewall running during the downloaed. When I tried the links for unistalling IE8 was after I installed IE8 and I restored my anti virus and turned off the windows firewall and turned on the firewall from Norton. From: Homer on 10 Feb 2010 09:16 Please disrecard my last response. I was clicking on the link in your response. I just noticed that there was a period at the end of the link. I cut and pasted it without the period and it worked fine. Sorry. "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: > What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your > subscription current?
