Theo, I'd really like to know which button it is ;)

GSM can have Multi-Level Precedence with Police and Gov officials
of course being given highest 0 or 1 level priority Sims / accounts.

On 900MHz public GSM networks nationally modified to GSM Pro PTT standards

Also if required extra levels of encryption can be added to individual
handsets, the Ericsson R250s Pro was probably the most popular?
http://www.gsmarena.com/ericsson_r250s_pro-119.php

But retailing for about 100quid each on an existing system that would have
only cost a few million to bring up to GSM Pro standard, the whole idea of
GSM Pro for the UK Police would have threatened some seriously big
multi billion Tetra contacts.

Another political reason for GSM Pro not to exist in the UK is it would
have scotched at birth the failed commercial Dolphin Tetra system.

So by not enabling GSM Pro in the UK not only have we prevented the
security services from a cheap effective system but also commercial users
too

And ordinary GSM users have lost out as well as obviously they would
have had back spots filled in their coverage with gov backed extra cells
on emergency service advice.

The only winner with Tetra Airwaves is Airwaves O2

So you've not use PTT on GSM which is quite different

For a comparison think of it as like CB but noise free with infinite range
where you can call with a ringing alert at anytime any other CBer
individually
or collectively in your group.

Not quite CB is it?

Yes of course, manages to get round all those holes in the coverage that
the GSM nets have;!..
