From: Robert Neville on 21 Oct 2009 09:43 Was notified this morinng that the R7 patch was available, but all attempts to install it (including manually) failed. Reviewing the update.log file, it appears that the patch was sucessful for all files except one called convert_stub.dat. The error message is: RTPatch error ept0036: Old file not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match: Any ideas on why this is failing and how to correct it?
From: Barbara Lindholm on 21 Oct 2009 09:54 I also tried to update to release 7 and it was unsuccessful; I got the error message that "a patching engine error had occured" Did anyone else have the same problem? Where do you find the log file? From: Barbara Lindholm on 21 Oct 2009 10:40 Thanks, I found it and it gave the same message as yours except the file name that failed was listed as wpt0036. That log file dates all the way back to 2003. How do I know that the Release 7 update log refers to Release 7 for version 9? At the very bottom of the log file it says log closed 2004. I see no mention of todays date. I found one of the reasons for a failure is if Quicken is installed in the C:/ drive and not in Program files. Mine did install on the root directory, C: /. It recommeds reinstalling into C:/Program Files/Quicken. I 'd rather not resort to this to risk something else going wrong. Also why did all my other patches install correctly to it's present location? Where do you find the log file? I assume that the two of you are talking about R7 for Quicken 2009. It installed here with no problems this morning. > "Robert Neville" <dont(a)bother.com> wrote in message > news:bp3ud596find2tmn090c20ctj1sbcr2ppo(a)4ax.com... > > Was notified this morinng that the R7 patch was available, but all > > attempts to > > install it (including manually) failed.
