From: s|b on 17 Jun 2010 13:58 I'm looking for a very simple backup program that can be used under Windows 7. I tried FBBackup, but for some reason this didn't work as expected. I tried to backup the complete C:\Users\[USER] directory to an external hdd, but for some reason it only copied some files, but not the complete directory. Perhaps because some files/directories are hidden, I don't know. I myself use LaCie Backup (/and/ FBBackup), but this is under WinXP and I don't know if it will work under W7 (also, it needs .NET 1.x). So now I'm looking for an alternative for W7. I has to be very *simple*. Both FBBackup and LaCie Backup work with a few simple mouseclicks after files/directories are added (something I will have to do myself since the user is a complete computer illiterate), so it has to be something similar. -- s|b

I'll give it a try (next week or so), but I'm still open to suggestions. -- s|b

If that's the case, just set it up to do everything automagically on a schedule and let it do its thing. As long as the computer is powered up when the scheduled job time rolls around, it will run it. In fact, I believe it can also be set to run any missed jobs on startup (it's been a while for me). -- Mark Warner ....lose .inhibitions when replying

Cobian Backup. Says it works on Win7 32 and 64 bit. I haven't used it on Win7, but it works fine for XP. http://www.educ.umu.se/~cobian/cobianbackup.htm |
