Of course you add more than there is to my reply which addressed notepads
vrs wordprocessors that the hoverer was talking about. You get a stalker
button and a bumper sticker.

I mainly agree with you BB but the definition of such things can be
very subjective and any prog that processes words and allows some
sort of formatting etc comes within the hierachical group of 'word
processors'. Within that there are sub-groups like 'text editors',
'xml editors', 'HTML editors' and 'program editors' etc etc.
I certainly wouldn't choose something like notepad or metapad for
producing formal business letters etc since their functions are aimed
at manipulating flat text and other specialist things and don't
produce nice pretty output.

Back to the OP ...he asked for something which supported RTF format
and I suggested Jarte which I have used for RTF for several years and
it also doubles up as a flat text tabbed notepad editor very easily
and has excellent printing support. That's why I mentioned it because
there aren't too many RTF editors about.

I'd like to second these comments re Jarte. I use a "word processor" pretty
heavily, and have absolutely hammered Jarte over the past few years without
any trouble at all. I did pay the tiny fee for the Plus version, but the
free one has just about anything you could need. It's built aroung the Word
Pad engine, and has been just about perfect for me. The only thing it won't
do is wrap text around pictures - they have to remain in line with the text.
But for that sort of thing a DTP is better anyway. Just my 2c worth.

What is wrong with WordPad?

Exactly so Peter. I got into Jarte for letter writing and when I
discovered that I could adjust margins dynamically in print preview
and see the effect in real time that hooked me.
