1.It's from MS.
2.It doesn't have a small footprint and powerful print preview tool
which really is superb.
3.Some other settings in Jarte aren't available in Wordpad. - eg
auto-load a range of documents when starting it up - quite useful.
4.Support for flat text files.
5.v2 is free and contains most of the 'must-have' features.

Jarte is a powerful editor with RTF support and it's only downside
is the rather strange GUI which some folks might not like.

I don't know what the OP wants to do with RTF but if it's letter
writing etc, is HTML good for that?

No, it's not the best.

I assumed since s/he referred to Treepad -- which is primarily an
information organizer / PIM -- that s/he was looking for a similar
tree-based info organizer but with the ability to format text and/ or add
images based on the request for RTF.
