P6KE16A 'transient voltage suppresor' - advice ? so far I've been unable to find the part in question. As I need to return this unit soon, I'm loath to leave it without some form of o/p protection, is there anything strightforward I could add to this psu to protect the appliance 'downstream'? possibly some form of crowbar at least. -B ... 16 Mar 2010 12:32
Static When Capturing VHS Tapes Sorry to rant, but I think it is enormously counter productive when a forum "archives" a topic and makes it no longer possible to add comments. I know this is probably Google's decision, and may not be under the control of the moderators. I've been planning to add additional comments to my "Static When Capturin... 20 Mar 2010 00:34
Taped show not showing up on TV screen My Toshiba VCR is the SD-296KU model. With my usual skill, I pressed a button that made the thing either NOT tape a program at all or NOT make it show up on the TV screen. Here's my setup: I used the cable remote to change channels, that's working ok. I use the remote for an Insignia TV for turning the TV on and of... 31 Mar 2010 13:15
Same FM station at two nearby positions? I have an clock radio about 30 years old that, when tuning for 88.5 FM, for example, by turning the dial, will find that station, and then a little higher will be another station, and a little higher still will be 88.5 again, often a stronger signal than the first one. I'm sure it's not a second station playing ... 16 Mar 2010 04:41

As far as test equipment goes, I've got a couple different DVM's, but no O-scope or ESR meter. The hum is on both left and right channels whe... 18 Mar 2010 09:20

Maplin/Trust 500 UPS The damn thing has developed the habit of bleeping at random intervals, I tried running it flat and then reconnecting the mains supply but it still keeps bleeping. The user manual doesn't have a trouble shooting table and apart from the random bleeping, the UPS appears to be working correctly. Any suggestio... 15 Mar 2010 15:50
The 22 Month Eletrolytics I bought a Philips DVP 642 DVD player in December 2005, and 2 months shy of 2 years, it failed - having symptoms of a well-known problem with a certain capacitor in the power supply. Well before the problem occurred, I had come across a description of the failure and how to fix it by replacing a particular capaci... 16 Mar 2010 23:13
