I don't remember where I came across it, but I recently read an article
stating, that the new 21.5" and 27" iMacs use different type HDs, and
that one should take extra care replacing them.

The previous generation (24" etc.) does use standard drives.

They're bog-standard SATAs, so I'm thinking that info source isn't
trustworthy.

This isn't the same article, but the essence is the same. It has to do
with that temperature sensor cable.

Yes, rather disappointing since swapping HDs has always been quite
simple in most Macs. I wonder why they ever abandoned that concept of
more user-servicable designs like the first generations of iMac G5s.

Anyway I just realised, Sarah is having the problem with a 20", so this
can't be the reason.
