From: erouse on 27 Feb 2010 17:06 I have a small office network set up with 5 wired computers. I am changing my router to a Lynksys RV082 VPN router to allow employees access to our data from home through VPN connection. Before I install the router I would like to reset the network settings of each of the wired computers and then set up a new workgroup. I was thinking of uninstalling the network cards through the device manager and letting pnp reconfigure them when I reboot. Will doing this clean up all the previous network card settings?

From: Jack [MVP-Networking] on 28 Feb 2010 13:57 Hi In most cases it is Not necessary to do so. Set all the cards to auto obtain and change the Network name. Then put the new Router On the Network. The Router's DHCP would assign a New IPs according to its DHCP range. At this point, depending on your need you can assign Static IPs. or Static DHCP. When using VPN it is better to use some form of IPs that stay constant. Jack (MS, MVP-Networking).
