From: mrwiegand on 19 May 2010 13:14 A bit confused as to why this is not working. I can receive emails as username(a)mail.domainname.net, I cannot receive emails as username(a)domainname.net I check under the users email addresses and the primary is set to be username(a)domainname.net. This worked fine at one time, but we had to switch domain names and since then it has not worked. I looked at MX records and that is correct. I ran the CEICW several times and made sure everything was correct... Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting this?

In addition to being part of one of each users' email addresses, the domain name must also be listed by Exchange itself. Look at Recipients, Recipient Policies, E-mail Addresses (Policy). -- Joe

It is still not working 100% however, I cannot send from Gmail to the exchange server, but I can receive from a few others. I did the MX look up tool and was told my reverse dns is not correct. Would that stop gmail from sending to the exchange server?

Do you get a useful message back from Gmail or does the email just disappear? The latter usually suggests a spamtrap of some kind. Are you receiving email directly or via an outside POP3 server, which may have its own spamtrap? -- Joe

Do you mean you can still receive from certain external domain that send emails to "username(a)domainname.net "? Please help me to clarify. Thank you.
