From: DannyG on 23 Feb 2010 17:54 I want to select specific work times to do work on a project from 9pm to 1am every day but when I tried to do this, the work times I specified would not change.
From: DavidC on 23 Feb 2010 18:33 Hi DannyG, Is the specific times you want to reflect, related to the resoruce or the task? Times are set up in various places. The first is the calendars where you can change the time for each individual day or selected days, the second is in the Calnedar tab of the 'tools/options', where the project defaut setting is mad. I suspect from yoru query that you want to change the default working day from 8:00am to 5:00pm, to 9:00pm to 1:00am. This ensures that the calculations required for project to give you a correct answer to your schedule. however you also need to select all the working days in the calendar used for the project and manually change the start and finish times. However remember that this shift works across two days. So the shift needs to show: Start 12:00am finish 1:00am, then start 9:00pm finish 12:00am. This is the reality on any particular day, you start the shift on one day and finish the next hence the odd way of setting the time. Hope this helps Regards DavidC "DannyG" wrote: > I want to select specific work times to do work on a project from 9pm to 1am > every day but when I tried to do this, the work times I specified would not > change.
From: Roland67 on 23 Feb 2010 18:34 If you want to change the work time for all tasks/resources then you'd want to change the work times in Tools--Options area or on the project's calendar. If its only on a task you'd want to create/update a task calendar which allows those hours to be valid work times. Hope this helps. From: JulieS on 23 Feb 2010 21:15 Danny, I am assuming the problem you are having is trying to make the working time span over midnight. Take a look at the built-in "Night Shift" calendar to see a sample of how to create working time that spans from one night to the next morning. I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along. Important: Changing the "Default Start" and "Default Finish" fields on the Tools/Options/Calendar page DOES NOT change the start and end times for the workday! You MUST change the times in the calendar in ChangeWorkingTime if you wish to change the actual working day start and end time. All date fields in Project are actually date/time fields - time is always a component whether you choose to display it or not. When you choose to manually type a date into a field, such as when setting a constraint, but do not explicitly provide the time element, Project must assume a time. The Tools/Options page default Start and Finish fields allow you to specify what time it will supply when you make such manual date entries. Changing the times here DOES NOT affect the working time calendar in any way. -- Steve House MS Project Trainer & Consultant "DavidC" <DavidC(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:46101CA9-264C-4FA5-81DC-558FBAFB4C5C(a)microsoft.com... > Hi DannyG, > > Is the specific times you want to reflect, related to the resoruce or the > task?
