Has anyone tried Graham's Skype to SIP gateway on phones that aren't the
Skypephone S1 or S2, but running Three's own Skype app? In particular, do
all the usual things like ringing and DTMF work?

I couldn't find much about Three's Skype client, which must be in Java,
and whether it differs from the client on the S2 (which could be in Java or
in Qualcomm Brew).

Three UK unhelpfully give you a big list of phones that you have to pick
one-by-one to see if Skype is supported... (strangely enough, not on the
Nokia 1100). Three Australia have a nice (if Flash-based) table that
shows which phones support Skype and other things:

http://www.three.com.au/compatible

I assume they use the same Skype application.

One the Nokia 2730 (and I guess other non Skypephones too) the Skype
application is designed to go off-line 90 minutes after it's minimised. Not
too useful a feature for incomming calls!

Hmm, that's a bit rubbish. I assume you mean Three's Skype app rather than
Skype's?

Is the application still running at that point? So it's the app that's
dropped the connection rather than the phone OS killing the app?

(who also wonders whether the Android 3 Skype app, which is claimed to
only work on HTC Heros bought from Three, will work on other Android phones.
And whether anyone has packet sniffed the 3 Skype control channel)

It that why my Nokia 6120c keeps loosing Skype after being minimised?

Not a problem on my S2 which can hold Skype for days

Yep, it's the Skype app that came pre-instaled directly from Three.
My suspicion is that it's the app that's dropping the connection, just as
you describe, but how can I tell for sure?

I swapped my S2 for this Nokia to get a better calendar but essentially lost
Skype in the process. Another 'feature' of Skype on the Nokia is that I
haven't found a way to initialise the app when switching on the phone. Tech
Support at Three tell me that it's impossible to do. The Nokia is really a
Skype phone for outgoing calls only. Folk now ring my mobile and hang up to
prompt me to switch Skype on ;-)
