xrandr works for me to get a nice big desktop, or you mean a login on each?

If all works well both are simple. However, as soon as my old FX5200 based
card went into to the leagacy drivers category all did not work easily. My
current ATI on mobo graphics had problems as well. Unfortunatly the ATI
sucked with the VESA driver. It was quite a faf with both of them.

On my machine it plays up without one. The slackbuilds and iirc nvidia
installer both advise editing the xorg.conf file to enable.

BTW from earlier post, when my FX5200 was included in the current set of
drivers the nvidia installer worked great. With the legacy drivers it did
not, and event the slackbuilds were a bit flakey.

I don't know, but I would suspect it would go in...... xorg.conf.

As I said, it is no longer *required*, but can be used for specific
changes/additions.
