From: Mike Jones on 5 Sep 2009 17:44 So, got the new S13. Installed it, ran my custom SlackMods (written for 12.2) script on it, noted the required tweaks to update, tweaked manually. Just 20 minutes to install stuff (as "full") a,ap,d,l,n.x.xp A few minutes sorting out the required mods to install the NVIDIA drivers, and... Total lockup on firing up X. Doncha just love NVIDIA? Create new xorg.conf with X -configure... Total lockup on firing up X. Next up, uninstall the NVIDIA stuff and generate a new xorg.conf, again, and see if there is some other SNAFU in there. Not one problem with KDE so far. (Not installed. :) -- *===( http://www.400monkeys.com/God/ *===( http://principiadiscordia.com/ *===( http://www.slackware.com/

It is really high time this was sorted. Having just rebuilt this PC with onboard ATI graphics, and reused the old mobo and graphics card in a media pc I thing both main vendors drivers are equally tricky to install. -- http://www.petezilla.co.uk

I don't see how the Nvidia install could be any easier than it is. Seriously. -- "Ubuntu" -- an African word, meaning "Slackware is too hard for me". If so where do I put the 'option "ActiveDevice" "DFP"' I need for my dvi via cx700? Where to put the layout when one uses multiple monitors? -- Hans
