From: JF Mezei on 28 Nov 2009 08:38 Snow Lepoard, Firefox 3.0.10 and java don't work. Trying to access a site tht needs java would crash Firefox. Upgrading Firefox to 3.0.15 seems to have fixed this.

The "check for upgrades" function told me the latest was 3.0.15 and that page said it was released oct 27th. So it looked pretty recent. But going to mozilla.org confirms the latest is really 3.5.5. I guess this must be a major upgrade and the "check for upgrade" only looks for minor upgrades.

Firefox is set to do automatic upgrades to point releases, for example 3.0.1 to 3.0.2. The final security release of the 3.0 iteration was 3.0.15, in which an automatic update to 3.5 is enabled. In 3.0.15, try Help>>Check for updates, and you should see it. On a Mac its just as easy to download the full version from the site and install it. Lee

My FF is at 3.5.2 and Check for Updates is grayed out. How come that? -- John Varela Trade NEWlamps for OLDlamps for email

How come > that? > I assume you are using a Mac, being a Mac group and all. Versions of FF provided with most Linux distros have updating disabled, so the distro updater can do it. Then again, I see your headers indicate your user agent as: ProNews/2 V1.60.cp125 ProNews would appear to be a newsreader for OS/2. I know there have been customized versions of FF for OS/2, but I really have no idea if updating has been disabled in them. You would probably need to ask in an OS/2 newsgroup, unless someone else has input. If this is on Mac OS X, while it is very easy to disable automatic updating, I don't knwo of a way to disable the Help>>Check for updates dialog. Lee
