query, perhaps you could ask her what device she likes the look of and
we can tell you whether it is Mac compatible or not.

I've only just discovered that her printer has in fact just died. Have
asked what make etc.

Ah. It is a seven year old HP that has just stopped working. I advised
her that she deserved a new one!

Yup.

Not necessarily all that old, either. There are usually ways round it,
also.

I would not expect new printers to have trouble. Some might not have had
drivers ready when Snow Leopard came out, but should be ok by now.
