It appears to open your PCs Skype application, i can't see
how you can use it to open your 3 Skype?

Also on Rebtel UK mobile calls are 11p per min, might
as well use an Asda / giffgaff, etc. sim

If you buy some Skype PAYG credit you can call Europe
and the US for 1.4p per min, but not UK numbers
as the 3 Skype phone app will only allow international calls.
(UK mobile would cost 16.6p per min anyway)

So what's needed is a cheap callthrough to the UK with an
European or US access number.
Preferably not US because of the added delay to the US
and back

Any ideas?

Precisely:

"So what's needed is a cheap call through to the UK with an European
or US access number."

As far as I know, Skype will work on anything as long as you have
internet connection. Not sure about the limitations from providers but
I use Skype on WiFi connections. My Windows Mobile phone has a WiFi
and I have Skype installed there and it works everytime. I also use
another VoIP service from Onesuite using the same WiFI connection and
it works all the time too.
