I have an existing environment with SBS 2003 on which I want to activate
terminal services licensing. The server that will host the application needs
to be a W2K3 server as the application isn't supported on W2K8.
Problem is that my supllier can't provide any TS Cals anymore for W2k3, so
he states that I should use the 'Win Rmt Dsktp Svcs CAL 2008 R2 Sngl User
CAL '
and activate this on the W2k3 Licensing server. From what I've read on the
board
this seems not possible;
Any advice ?

Thx

Your supplier is correct.
When a new Windows OS is released, it becomes impossible to buy TS
CALs for older versions. What you do is buy TS CALs for the most
recent version, and use your downgrade rights when installing them
on your existing Licensing Server.
Documented here:

Windows Server 2008 Downgrade Rights

Hi,

How do you use those downgrade rights ? Do you have to contact Microsoft on
the phone ?

I used the "web page" method instead of "direct connection" and I was able
to downgrade the TS CALs.

What do you mean by "web page" method instead of "direct connection", is this
at time you're doing the registration on the W2K3 TS licensing server ?
