Ta, might as well send them an email as there don't seem many other ways getting it here. Thanks -- Woody

My son managet to get his laptop into a considerable mess and I suggested we re-install Win XP. that's when he told me his DVD drive had been broken for a couple of years - he used an external and the BIOS wouldn't let him boot from that. No problem - I have a stack of the things I used for production. All different makes. I took every one apart - including 3 laptops - 7 in all - and not one had a matching connectiion. As all were soldered in place I wasn't about to go that far for a dead lextremely slow laptop - and he could afford new one anyway. -- duncank

You may be allowed to change the region a limited number of times. Apple's DVD drives used to have a '5 changes and it sticks' rule. The Daily Mash. Yes, but that is usually a function of the operating system being able to change the drives region setting. The TV may not even have that functionality in its firmware. That being said, there are usually 'secret' key sequences that set the region code for the TV, and maybe this is something that could be researched. After all it would be surprising if Foryou have separate production for different regions, I suspect they just produce 1000's of drives, and they get set to the region by the TV manufacturer. |
