Only by the container full it seems (unless you can find a car DVD player you can nick the drive out of). What would be wrong with an external DVD player (rather than 'replacing the telly')? Cheers, T i m p.s. When we got our UMC FV TV / DVD player I viewed the DVD player as a temporary bonus.

Maybe that is an option. > What would be wrong with an external DVD player (rather than > 'replacing the telly')? Becasue it is another thing to have. This is her telly/dvd player that she has in the bedroom. I am sure we have an old DVD player around still, just not as neat. I mean it doesn't really matter much at the moment, as she is watching stuff on her archos, but it seems a shame to have a telly that is otherwise not going to get used. > p.s. She wanted a DVD player with something to see it on, so a TV is of no use to her if it can't play DVDs. -- Woody www.alienrat.com

Unless you could get confirmation from the manufacturers that they were the same then it might be an expensive experiment (might be worth dropping them a line though. I have been lucky with companies sending me stuff (often foc) that wasn't technically available as a spare as such). > >> What would be wrong with an external DVD player (rather than >> 'replacing the telly')? > >Becasue it is another thing to have. Plus I don't like having to play lucky dip re trying to find the DVD slot round the side of the TV (so use an external one anyway). I guess that's the price you can pay for all_in_ones, that and one bit goes down and it can write the whole thing off (in Sabs case etc). > She wanted a DVD player with something to >see it on, so a TV is of no use to her if it can't play DVDs. Will you get it in the cupboard with all that other kit though? ;-) Cheers, T i m

One of the reasons people are here is that they get Macs to avoid the clunky stuff. -- Peter

Well, all you need is transport controls and digital output, so it should be easy enough to find. > >> What would be wrong with an external DVD player (rather than > >> 'replacing the telly')? > > > >Becasue it is another thing to have. I suggested that to her, she wasn't keen. Actualy not, I would probably keep it as it is pretty good as a telly, if I needed one of those -- Woody www.alienrat.com |
