Sam have no trouble using fix stars as to relate. Never argue with Ody.
was just saying earth's rotation is measured right down to a second. We
human's dokeep good time, right down to a second over 2 million years

dow gave you a very reasonable and clear explanation of the forces involved.
You spewed abuse, and pretended to know something about physics.

Presumably next time he will know not to bother trying to explain it to you,
as you are wilfully ignorant.

My sigless gps is in motion with the earth when its let go to watch not
turning with the earth.
thats like UP at a fixed point in space.

Yes, Peter. You are right about that. I don't think I will bother
looking at this conversation any more.

I would have imagined that at least one person could comprehend the
basic principle of unequal natural noon, the correction which reduces
it to a 24 hour cycle and keeps those cycles ticking over constantly
and then the neatest trick of converting the 'average' 24 hour part
into constant rotation,it is not difficult and really enjoyable for
all levels of understanding who actually wish to know how the 24 hour
day works with planetary geometry/geography and rotational
characteristics.

The formal proof for constant daily rotation through 360 degrees
using an Equatorial speed of 1669.8 km per hour and a speed of 837 km
per hour at 60 degrees latitude is surprisingly simple and far
superior to Foucault's pendulum which is only proportional compared
to direct observations and experiences. The explanation for why
twilight lengths vary with latitude rely on how fast the Earth is
turning at a given latitude in 24 hours so that at any given moment,a
location is transiting through the circle of illumination at
appropriate latitudinal speeds causing daylight to turn into darkness
rapidly at the Equator and longer twilights towards the poles.

I won't even ask you what speeds you assign for rotation through 15
degrees/1 hour seeing that you have this abysmal attachment to the
'sidereal time' value.I really would like to know what people think
they are doing by ignoring the most basic facts which tie the Earth's
geometry/geography to daily rotation through 360 degrees in 24 hours
exactly ?
