OK Dave" <d.coe35(a)gmail.com> which i got from the header
whom i presume is also <mobaholic.1(a)gmail.com>
which i got from the header of the previous post.

it's a safe bet as the header tells me you are both using google groups
and UserAgent: Mozilla/4.0, etc.

I know although you are experienced in all matters phoneish, but that
Usenet is still a bit of a mystery to you. Remember most newsgroups
are unmoderated and a haven for Trolls, one of which games is to
impersonate regulars. (not that the other Steve was trying to do that in
this case)
So learn to keep a eye on the posting headers and if the info in them
looks right for the person you expect to be reading

Most Usenet users use aliases which they hide behind, others like myself
use their real names hoping to add creditability to their postings.

I think the point of Usenet is it's simple text based so efficient on
bandwidth
and use of your PCs resources, and mostly unmoderated so free speech.

With easy to use free Usenet servers like eternal-september
to use on free newsreaders like OE, Free agent, etc

Lots of other advantages too i'm sure

Sorry to disappoint you Steve, but your safe bet has let you down.
I did login in here to read the thread briefly, but I didn't make the
post above attributed to me, nor am I the other contributor whom you
took me to be.
As I use a library PC, and all in the county use the same browsers, it
is possible that someone hacked in to make a post in my name, but
otherwise I am unable to explain it. Whatever advantages you
attribute to Usenet, security obviously isn't one, and username
misidentity is equally obviously rife.
That is one reason why I usually stick to secure forums, and have only
recently joined here because of my interest in the 351 callthrough for
three pre-pay users.
I may well now delete my registration here before something worse
ensues.

Yeah, like posting another question.
