That kext got updated by 10.6.2, by the way. So David's suggestion of
reapplying the 10.6.2 update might be a good one.

Yes, a O - I've disconnected all the peripherals but there was a
Firewire drive connected.

running fsck....

volume is jounaled no checking performed

use the -f option to force checking

launchctl: Please convert the following to launchd: /etc/mach
init.d/dashboardadvisoryd.plist

then it ends at initialisation of power management

It might be worth disconnecting that drive during the boot, just for now.

"Ends" as in just stops dead? That sounds like a hardware problem -
does resetting the SMC help?

Um... good point. Will booting off DVD allow you to apply an OS update?

I'd try to reset the SMC <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT396> before
trying to add stuff to the disk.
