In Pages you can set the language per paragraph. Yes I have Pages. I'll have to check it out to see if it solves my dual language spell checking. Thanks for the information.

I checked out Pages and couldn't find out how to "set the language per paragraph" as the person who suggested Pages as an option. Part of the problem I couldn't find out how to set different languages, so I went back to TextEdit because I thought it had a popup menu of different languages, well there in the TextEdit popup menu was the option "Multilingual" which checked automatically both the English and French text within the document.

Thanks for the TextEdit tip. In Pages the language selection can be found in the Inspector under the Text tab (the capital T icon), then "More". It's not a surprise you missed it. -- Paul Sture

I had checked the T under the inspector but didn't get as far as More so if I had selected "All" in the language popup I suspect I would have the same result as selecting Multilingual in TextEdit. But I still don't see the option mentioned of treating paragraphs differently in relation to spell checking. |
