Well, I have tried opening Microsoft Word, writing some dummy text in a
file, save on my desktop while Microsoft Word is still running tried
deleting the file, Windows complained that the file is in use, but
Unlocker was sitting in the system tray with no action.

Doing the same thing on one of my other computers at home which is
running Windows XP Professional 32 Bit, Unlocker used intercept that
call and displaying which process/program was locking the filer and
offering to end the process.

Nothing happens using this new version on Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit.
Did anyone try it?

Of course Unlocker v1.8.8 Portable doesn't even start, only asks for UAC
prompt comes up, nothing after that.
But that is an older version, so I was not expecting it to work.

I guess it helps to actually read the update information at the authors web
site. Here is an important excerpt that should explain why the program you
downloaded is not working on your W7 64 version. It should like the last
line just might let you accomplish your quest.

"From a x64 stand point, it took me a couple of hours to get it fully
working on my machine. I still have to sign the driver which might require a
lot of paperwork, but hopefully it will not take long. For the impatient
kind, I can provide alpha versions :)"

So it looks like you need to write the author and politely ask for a copy of
the unsigned (Microsoft) "alpha" version.

That was my whole point, it doesn't work as advertised.
Thanks.

You could have saved wasting your time on that diatribe if you had bothered
to read my follow up posting. It followed very quickly.

I believe in proceeding cautiously and doing a little research before
leaping. I learnt to look before I leap, I would guess, many years before
you were born sunshine. Learn to grow up.

I wish I could reciprocate.
