From: barrowhill on 27 Sep 2006 16:48 Matt, I don't have a problem running windows update. This runs fine and tells me if I have any updates to install. The problem is with the install (not download). See my reply to MowGreen. Ca get updates to install but not via (auto) update site. From: MowGreen [MVP] on 27 Sep 2006 22:18 Install issues with Automatic Updates *usually* result from corrupted data in the Software Distribution folders. That or lack of disk space, corruption of the download, etc. Since the system didn't experience file corruption, then suggest you empty out these 2 folders of all contents and then wait until the second Tuesday of October to see if that resolved the issue - WINDOWS\Software Distribution\Downloads WINDOWS\Software Distribution\EventCache You may need to show hidden files, folders, and system files to view those folders : http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html#winxp Delete the content of those 2 folders. If that doesn't resolve the issue than you will have to stop the Automatic Updates service and then delete the contents of WINDOWS\Software Distribution\DataStore Restart the service when you've done that.
