But do any other browsers you have work fine? Tried opening a new
fresh account (in addition to yours) and logging in?

In what way are you not able to open them? What actually happens? You
message is way too vague for anyone to give a good answer. Maybe a
giant penguin waddles into the room and shoves you out of the way
whenever you attempt to visit one of those sites?

Or if he has a wireless broadband connection, such as an USB 3G modem,
he can try using that. At least, AFAIK, if it is from a different ISP
than his fixed broadband.
