Hi

sbs 2003 standard.Tried installing KB961143 several times but it fails
without any obvious reason. What is the problem and how can I get the update
installed?

Have you downloaded it as an individual patch, and run that? If you go to
WU History, and click on the failed patch, that should get you to the
download location. This works most of the time for me.

I.E. get it from the download center, not through WU/AU/WSUS.

By any chance did you uninstall SharePoint?
